Many factors have led us to specialize in the design and manufacture of cutter bodies and mechanically fastened tools:
We realized decades ago that these needs had to be met, and that is why we excel in these niches of the market, offering tailor-made solutions on a daily basis according to the client’s need.
In our dedicated department, tools with interchangeable inserts from 8 mm to diameter are turned and milled … well in truth we have never set a size limit. We have made disc milling cutters of the diameter of 3 meters, lathe tools of the length of 1 meter, not to mention anti-vibration bars. Dimensions therefore do not scare us , we take them as a challenge and a spur to apply our knowledge also to over-sized tools.
The insert seats are made on 5-axis DMG Mori and CB Ferrari machining centers, machines that guarantee compliance with very tight dimensional tolerances. Our items are particularly appreciated for the careful finishing of the insert seat , which is machined in order to avoid play and slack. that would result in the instability of the plate and impact the functionality of the tool. We can perform most of the seats of the most common inserts on the market, regardless of their fixing system (screw, lever, bracket, wedges or cartridges). Our bodies are made of 42CrMo, 39NiCrMo or 18NiCr, steels that better respond to the stresses the tool is subjected to during machining.
Items can be made with the attachment required by the customer : cylindrical, Weldon, Whistle Notch, Varilock, BT, ISO DIN 69871, to switch to modular ones obtained from semi-finished products.
Our mechanically fastened items are subjected to a nitriding treatment (or other suitable treatment depending on the specificity) in order to guarantee non-deformability over time of the insert seats and to protect the body from the corrosive effect of chip flow. When the customer is in a hurry and cannot wait for the technical hardening times , we offer a technically equivalent solution. In these cases, in fact, we make the tool with a special material (called M261) from Bohler, a pre-treated heat-treated tool steel , which guarantees the same wear resistance as conventional nitrided steel.
To allow the inalterabilityof the surface of the tool this issubjected to a phase of hot burnishing, rigorously carried out internally by our production to ensure the highest standards.
All our items are laser marked with a product code, production batch and on request with datamatrix. To learn more about the importance of tool tracking and traceability, see our Tattools software.
